Summer Art Show
Gallerist Jackie Bell invited me to be part of the Summer Show at her gallery in Bungay, Suffolk and I was absolutely delighted. I was really looking forward to it and knew it would be something to focus on after my solo exhibition. It was going to be a completely different experience as my work would be displayed alongside 10 other artists. I was intrigued to see how she would ‘hang’ the exhibition and I wasn’t disappointed.
The Bell Gallery really is a beautiful building, both internally & externally. It is set over three rooms and it is an incredible airy, light-filled space. It has a really positive energy about it, making it feel welcoming as soon as you step inside. Upon entering for the first time I was delighted to see that 3 of my large paintings had been hung together at the back of the gallery and immediately captured visitors attention.
The Summer Show ran throughout July 2024 and consisted of 11 artists. Jackie blended our work together beautifully, as it was a real eclectic mix. I was particularly delighted to be exhibiting alongside my friend and fellow artist Ruth Lyne. I had been really looking froward to attending the Preview evening but unfortunately a dose of Covid put paid to that idea.
Due to the driving distance from home I didn’t do any of the hosting. It therefore meant that for most of the time I would forget about the exhibition & not be pre-occupied about whether any visitors were coming in etc. I understand that the exhibition attracted lots of visitors which is wonderful. I sold lots of art cards and a painting too, which is always a good feeling.
I thoroughly enjoyed being part of the Summer Show and felt a little bit sad when it came to an end. But then I remembered there’s a little bit of excitement to be had thinking about the mystery of what comes next…
