Solo Art Exhibition
In June 2024 I hosted a solo art exhibition at The Craft House In Woodbridge, Suffolk. This was an exciting opportunity for me to showcase my latest collection of acrylic paintings. I called the exhibition: Colour Me Happy. My use of bold, bright colours is one of the things that most people comment upon and how happy they make them feel. It is definitely the effect they have on me too…hence Colour Me Happy!
I am so proud of the collection of acrylic paintings that I was able to share there. My painting style is very distinctive…which I love. Nature is my biggest inspiration and this is reflected in all my semi-abstract paintings. There are lots of floral and botanical influences, in the colours, movement & general content.
Having the gallery to myself for a week enabled me to display my work exactly how I wanted to within the two rooms. The luxury of space allowed me an opportunity to display several of my large pieces together & demonstrate how impactful they look both individually and also together. I was so happy with how the gallery looked and I received lots of positive feedback on my work, which is always great to receive.
Preparing for a solo exhibition is a bit of a rollercoaster of emotions for me. The easiest part for me by far is creating the paintings. All the other bits are a bit scary as they are out of my control. Firstly I’m taking a big gamble financially when I book gallery space for a week. It is an expensive outlay and I have to feel confident that I will at least be able to re-coup my costs. There is also the stress of setting up the exibition, followed by the fears around whether anyone will actually come, will they like my work…and of course will anybody buy anything?
Once the gallery is set up and I am happy with how it all looks my anxieties generally fall away. I realise there is nothing more I can do. I love exhibiting my work and having the opportunity to share it with people. It brings me so much happiness seeing them all in one space. I think of it like a group of friends hanging out together, making each other shine!
I think it was my favourite exhibition. I really enjoyed the week. People came, people said wonderful things. I sold some paintings too which was the icing on the cake.
My nerves couldn’t stand it too often…but I’ll be back next year in May to do it all over again. Let the painting begin….
With love, Corinne
